Our Most Popular Blankets
Double beds are the most common bed sizes in the UK. If you have a double bed, it’s easy to find a heated blanket for it! We’ve got something to fit any kind of double bed on this page, from fully fitted blankets for regular double beds to heated throws or elastic strap models for small double beds.
Double or Single Controls?
If you share your bed with a partner, you might not always agree on how warm to have your electric blanket. Dual control electric blankets have a controller on each side of the blanket. This lets you set your side of the bed to a different temperature setting than your partner’s, so you can both get a comfy night’s sleep!
Be aware that two controls require two power cables. This means you’ll need to be able to plug them in on both sides of your bed. If you’re alone in bed, you might only want to plug one side to cut your energy costs in half.
Award-Winning Blankets
Looking for the best? You’re in luck! Our range of blankets includes several award-winners such as the Homefront range, so you can buy with confidence.
Using Your Electric Blanket
If you’re using a fitted electric underblanket, fit it directly onto your mattress, beneath your fitted sheet and duvet.
When you’re testing out your electric blanket for the first time, make sure you lie on it properly for a few minutes. Electric blankets don’t get scalding hot like heaters do as they aren’t designed to warm up whole rooms. This means that, if you just rest your hand on it for a few seconds, it probably won’t feel very warm – this is normal, and doesn’t indicate a fault with your blanket. Once you properly fit the blanket and lie on it (or under it if it’s a heated throw) the heat will quickly build up to a comfortable level.
Who Can Use an Electric Blanket?
All the electric blankets you see above are fitted with an overheat protection system. We only sell blankets that have this safety feature, so you can shop with complete peace of mind.
Electric blankets are safe to use if you have a pacemaker, provided they’re used correctly. If you have diabetes or another condition which causes numbness or sensitivity in the skin, consult a doctor before using a heated blanket. They’re generally safe to use during pregnancy, but you should avoid using them during the last month of your term. If you’re unsure, always consult your doctor before buying.
